All-Star Movies Resort Review

Hey everyone! Today I'll be sharing my most recent experience at Disney's All-Star Movie's Resort in Orlando FL. I'm a big fan of the value resorts at Disney personally.
The theming is so fun, especially if you're traveling with littles, and the price is great too! My most recent trip was this past August for a girls trip with a couple girlfriends. We stayed two nights in a standard room at All-Star Movies. Keep
reading for a full review of our experience!

Before I get down to the details, let me share why I decided to stay at a resort on Disney property. There are TONS of perks to staying at a Disney resort as opposed to a resort or Airbnb off property. It all starts when you land in Orlando. If you arrive at Orlando International Airport (MCO) you can take advantage of Disney's free shuttle service called Magical Express. They'll even pick up your checked luggage and deliver it straight to your room for you! This was a major factor for me for this trip. I'm a little embarrassed to admit I had never in my life used Uber or Left before this trip and being that I was traveling totally alone for the first time since I was 18 years old I was nervous about trying to get an Uber all by myself. Thank goodness for Disney! I was able to land at MCO, head down to the Magical Express area at the airport and be on my merry way.

Ready to board Magical Express!
Other perks of staying on property include: online check-in (no need to go to the front desk! Just head straight to your room and use your complimentary magic band to open the door), the ability to prepay for your meals with one of the Disney Dining Plans, the ability to book dining for your entire trip 180 days in advance, the ability to book Fastpasses 60 days in advance instead of 30 days, extra time in the parks either before park opening or after park close, and the ability to save money on your next trip via bounce back offers.

I chose All-Star Movies for a couple reasons. The main reason was that it was a resort I haven't previously stayed at and I'm all about trying new things! Another draw to All-Star Movies was the fact that it recently underwent renovations so I definitely wanted to check out the refurbished rooms!

Standard Room with Pull Down Table Bed

The refurbished rooms don't disappoint! No carpet means it feels so much cleaner. I absolutely hate carpet because it's nearly impossible to keep really clean and as an allergy sufferer it's never pleasant to be breathing in all the dust and allergens that get trapped in the carpet fibers. There is a ton of storage which is always a plus for me because I'm one of those people that unpacks in a hotel. And the extra pull down bed adds a lot more space to a usually cramped room and it was surprisingly comfortable. The split bath is great for a little extra privacy as well. One person can be at the sink while the other showers and there's a door between them. Overall I'm a fan of the updated rooms!

We were assigned to the Toy Story
section of the resort. The theming, as always, was adorable! We really enjoyed checking out all of the details that make you feel as if you're shrunk down to the size of a toy inside Andy's bedroom. The other four themed sections of the resort are 101 Dalmatians, Fantasia, The Mighty Ducks and The Love Bug.

Now...it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows.I'll be honest. This is going to be a somewhat mixed review. The first thing we weren't absolutely crazy about was the temperature and the dryness of the air. It was like the air conditioner was set to max with no off switch. We tried adjusting the temperature but it was consistently very cold in our room and we were both a little too cold at night. Now keep in mind, this is Orlando in August so it is HOT and humid outside! That could be a contributing factor but for me, it was just too cold. The air was also very dry in our room which I'm attributing to the constant running of the A/C. If you're worried about being cold bring warmer pj's than you'd think you'd want in Florida.

Another issue we had was the noise level at night. I'll preface this with the fact that we were assigned to a connecting room. Let's just say there is NO noise reduction between the room on the other side of that connecting door. I'm a very light sleeper unfortunately so I was awake all night both nights listening to breathing, snoring and babies crying. It was not exactly relaxing or enjoyable after spending a full day in the parks. If you're a light sleeper like I am, I highly recommend requesting a NON connecting room! If you check in and find yourself in a connecting room you can also request to be moved. But keep in mind, room requests are not guaranteed and depend on the current occupancy of the resort.

So, will I be staying at All-Star Movies again? I actually would be willing to stay again, provided I don't end up in a connecting room. I love the new updated rooms and the fun theming of the resort. As far as value resorts go I think this one is a great option if you're on a budget and traveling with kids!

So there you have it! Thank, as always, for reading! Make sure you subscribe and follow me on Instagram at @midwestandthemouse so you don't miss future posts! I'll be back next week with another review.

Until next time....Have a Magical Disney Vacation 🎆
